PARTICIPATION CRITERIA
THE RUNNER HAS TO
Be informed about the race’s specialties, the length and difficulty of the chosen course and has to be physically well-prepared for the event. Have appropriate mountaineering, wilderness survival and wilderness navigation skills. Be able to manage mental, physical and digestive problems without assistance. Be aware of the fact that the organizers are not responsible for solving the problems listed above.
PARTLY SELF-SUPPORTING EVENT
By partly self-supporting we mean that between any two consecutive aid stations the runner is responsible for solving problems related to his/her physical, mental or other weather related conditions. To this end all runners have to adhere to the following rules: Runners have to possess all mandatory equipment (see below) during the whole course. Organizers are free to check it anytime. Preventing or refusing the control will result in immediate disqualification. Upon leaving the aid station the runner has to be sure that his/her supplies (food and drinks) are sufficient until the next post. Crew access is only permitted at aid stations. Runners are not allowed to be accompanied by anyone outside the race.
REQUIRED GEAR
Participants of the Salomon Ultra-Trail® Hungary are required to carry the mandatory equipment through the whole course. This kit is the bare minimum that all runners are expected to complement based on individual needs.

REGISTRATION METHOD
By registering the participant accepts all the race rules and etiquette. Registration is open from at noon November 2 2022. The only accepted way for registration is through ultratrail.hu. Onsite registration is not possible. The registration fee can be paid only by credit / debit card. Maximum number of runners: Limited to 300 runners.
REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
Registration is possible only within the designated registration period. Your registration will become valid once the appropriate fee has arrived before the payment deadline. After April 20, 2023 no registrations or payments are accepted. For exceptional cases (ie. acceptance to the race after the registration period is over) please consult our Charity page.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Registration can be cancelled only in email (hello@ultratrail.hu), until 12:00 PM (CET) April 15, 2023. Cancellations in any other form (phone, fax, orally etc.) are not accepted. After 12:00 PM (CET) April 15, 2023 the registration cannot be cancelled. The reimbursement of fees paid to the bank account under the following conditions : before December 31 80% -Between January 1st andFebruary 28th: 60% - Between March 1st and April 15th 40% -After April 15th, no reimbursement is possible.
MATERNITY BREAK
Competitors who become pregnant during the entry period may defer their entry to the following year or the year after. Email to hello@ultrattail.hu to request and attach medical certificate confirming pregnancy.
REGISTRATION TRANSFER TO ANOTHER PERSON
Transferring a registration is only possible via the transfer form before 12PM, 5th of May 2023. After the registration period ends (20th of April 2023), we cannot change the T-shirt size. We do not accept transfer requests verbally, over the phone, via fax etc. After 12PM, 5th of May 2023 there is no option to transfer your registration. Email to hello@ultrattail.hu to request and ask the transfer form.
REGISTRATION TRANSFER TO A DIFFERENT DISTANCE
Participants can request to transfer their entry to a lesser or greater race distance, up until such time as that race distance is sold out, subject to the following terms: Registration transfer to a different distance can be request only in email (hello@ultratrail.hu). Transferring to a greater distance: where a participant requests to transfer to a greater distance and space is available, the participant is required to pay the difference in entry fees between the two distances. Transferring to a shorter distance: where a participant requests to transfer to a shorter distance and space is available, the difference in entry fees will not be refunded. Transfer to a different distance deadline is 12:00 PM (CET) May 5, 2023.

RACE PACKET AND BIB
You can pick up your race packet at the race check-in desk by presenting a valid government issued photo ID (e.g. passport, driver license etc.). This is the only way of getting your race kit so make sure to bring an appropriate document. The race bib should be placed on the chest or your belly with a race number belt. Altering the bib or covering the official event and sponsor logos is forbidden. The access to the following areas and services is restricted to runners with race bibs: Start and finish area Aid stations Drop bags and personal refreshments Left luggage area Relax area with shower and massage Hot meal at the finish area
TIMING
Timing is carried out with CheckpointSystem. There is not deposit for the personal chip but it is the competitors’ responsibility to preserve and to give back the chip.
RACE IN THE RACE: PETZL LIGHTMARE
For competing at Petzl Lightmare, you do not need to register, all Salomon Ultra-Trail® Hungary female & male racers (who Finished the race) are going to take part automatically. The fastest female and male competitor between Lajosforrás (check point) and Dobogókő (aid station) (10.5km) wins 1-1 Petzl Nao+ headlamp.
REPLACEMENT HEADLAMPS
Petzl, our sponsor, provides a set of replacement headlamps at the Dobogókő refreshment point. If yours runs out of battery or malfunctions between the start and Dobogókő, simply hand it in to the crew and ask for a replacement. After finishing you can return your replacement lamp in the Race Center and this is where you’ll get back your depleted or broken lamp as well.

DROP BAGS
You must use the bags that is included in your race packet (size 30X40cm). No other bags are accepted. Put the sticker (also included in your race packet) to the bag in a highly visible way and make sure the bag is securely tied. You can drop off your bags at the race check-in desk during check-in hours (see the Program). (We won’t transport poles or any other item that doesn’t fit in the provided bag.). The bags will be transported to Pilisszentlélek (35km) and Lepence (66km) by the organizers. You will get your bag by your bib number. All bags will be transported back to the finish after the aid station closes. You can reclaim your bag until 9:00 PM May 28, by presenting your race bib at the drop off point. Should you leave your bag at the venue we will mail it to you at your own expenses and request until June 30, 2023. After June 30, 2023 we will donate all remaining gear.
AID STATIONS
Access to aid station is restricted to runners with appropriately placed race bibs. The exact location of the aid stations is detailed in the Participant Guide (from 2023 May 10). At our aid stations runners will have access to the following refreshments: water, sport drink (isotonic), coke, crackers (both salty and sweet), chocolate, bananas, apples, pickled cucumber, olives, dried fruits, sausage, bread and cheese. Veggie soup are available at Pilismarót and Pilisszentlászló aid station. There will be NO disposable plastic cups at the aid stations. Be green bring your own reusable one!
HYGIENE PRODUCTS FOR LADIES AT THE AID STATIONS AND AT THE RACE CENTRE
We equipped our aid stations and the race centre with hygiene products for ladies (tampons, pads, etc). Should you need them, ask our female volunteers.
MASSAGE AND KINEZOTAPE TREATMENT
There will be massage and kinezotape treatment at Pilismarót (45km) and Lepence (64km) aid stations operated by a professional crew.
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
There will be a few medical and first aid station at the start/finish area and checkpoints operated by a professional crew. In case of an injury call the number on your bib immediately for assistance! All participants are required to assist fellow runners in case of emergency!
CHECKPOINTS AND TIME LIMITS
CHECKPOINTS
We will record the crossing times at several checkpoints along the course. The organizers reserve the right to operate previously unannounced checkpoints.
CUTOFF TIME
Cutoff time 20 hours. Aid station cutoffs can be found in the Participant Guide and on the itinerary. Intermediate cutoffs are adjusted to a successful completion of the race near the full time limit. Runners who arrive at a checkpoint after the cutoff will be disqualified. The organizers reserve the right to stop the race or alter/change the cutoffs based on weather or safety related reasons.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
REST AREA, SHOWER AND MASSAGE
There is a rest area with shower access near the race check-in. Massage is available for runners free of charge.
COURSE MARKING
The course is marked with its very own ribbons and signs. For better visibility we also use reflective tags over the night section of the course.
PENALTIES AND DISQUALIFICATION
Organizers will make sure that race rules are followed and will act according to the following rules and regulations: Cutting parts of the course – 1 hour penalty. /// Cutting a minor switchback – 15 minutes penalty. /// Missing mandatory equipment – Immediate disqualification. /// Impeding or refusing the equipment check – Immediate disqualification. /// Littering anywhere on course (It’s a freakin’ forest!) – Immediate disqualification. /// Disrespectful behavior (with volunteers or other runners) – Immediate and lifelong disqualification. /// Cheating (using any vehicles, changing bibs etc.) – Immediate and lifelong disqualification. /// Covering the bib – 15 minutes penalty. /// Bib worn improperly – 15 minutes penalty. /// Skipping an aid station – Immediate disqualification. /// Ignoring or violating the instructions of any personnel (medical staff, station captain, organizer) – Immediate disqualification. /// Arriving after cutoff time – Immediate disqualification. /// Failing to provide first aid – Immediate disqualification. /// The 15 minute and the 1 hour penalties take effect immediately, which means that the runner must stop and cannot continue the race until the penalty time is over. All other cases not discussed above will be judged by the organizers.
APPEAL
A written objection must be submitted within 2 hours following the finish. It costs 5,000 HUF which is non-refundable if the complaint is not acknowledged.
MODIFICATIONS TO THE COURSE OR TO THE TIME BARRIERS; CANCELLATION OF THE RACE
Altering/changing locations, the course, or cancelling the race Organizers reserve the right to change or alter any parts of the course, places of aid stations, checkpoints or modify the time and location of the start or cancel the event without prior notice due to severe weather conditions or other unexpected conditions.In case the race has to be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control (pandemic, flood, natural didaster, etc.):
Before 1st April 2023 you can choose from 3 options:
1. You defer your registration to 2024 (in this case your 2023 entry fee fully covers your entry for the 2024 race, you do not have to pay anything and you do not have to re-register)
2. We keep your money on the account we open for you, and you can use the whole amount for any other races organized by us in the future, without time limit (in this case your place in the next UTH is not guaranteed)
3. You ask for a refund of 50% of the entry fee you paid.
Between 1st April 2023 and 20th May 2023
We will not pay your money back, but you can use 50% of the entry fee for any other races organized by us in the future, without time limit.
After 1st May 2023
If the race has to be cancelled for any reasons after 1st of May, unfortunately no refund of the registration fee will be made.
PARTICIPANT GUIDE
The Participant Guide, containing the location of start/finish, race packet pickup details, baggage storage, cutoff times, and location of first aid places, aid stations and course description will be available online at ultratrail.hu after May 10, 2023 in downloadable format.
PHOTO COPYRIGHT
With the registration you are relinquishing all your entitlements to copyright over any photographic content produced during the event. The organizers possess all these rights and may pass them on to other parties.
DOGS AND PETS
No dogs or other pets are allowed over the course.
