Salomon UTH® 2018 race summary by race director, Csanya
The 2018 edition of the race has brought several changes: instead of a finisher T-shirt, runners got their tee in the start package; a new distance, Salomon Szentlászló Trail (84K / 3.100M+) made a debut this year; finishers received a medal; the Race Center and the Start/Finish moved to a new place. These changes coupled with the rising number of participants (altogether 1165 runners / 4 distances) put a huge strain on the organizers. Surprisingly – and luckily for us – the number of volunteers has risen simultaneously, and this year’s Crew counted 185 volunteers! Let me stop here to thank these 185 people for the effort they’ve put into this race.
611 runners filled in the questionnaire we sent out post-race, and shared lots of suggestions, personal opinion, and criticism. I’ll reflect on those in a separate letter.

Salomon UTH® finisher Csernus Brigi let us know right after her arrival that she ran off-track after “Hirsch-orom” and came up to second from third place. Race officials ruled a 15-minute penalty which put Brigi in third place among women.
Kamenar Viktor missed the cut-off in Salomon Visegrád Trail because he slowed down to escort an injured fellow competitor. Race officials decided to recognize Viktor as finisher, his time was changed to 1 minute within cut-off, 05:59 that is.
Thank you Brigi and Viktor for your sportsmanship!
I’m really pleased that the mayor of Szentendre finished Salomon Szentlászló Trail, and the mayor of Visegrád successfully took part in Salomon Visegrád Trail!
Unfortunately, this year’s race also saw a couple of disqualifications. Eight finishers missed some of the mandatory equipment, one of them insulted the volunteer who was checking her, which means a lifetime-ban from UTH® and all Trailrunning.hu races, according to the Race rules.
The quality of the trailer made of this year’s race can be best described by the fact that it made its way to the official page of SalomonRunning.
